Moving DVR contents

Is it possible and practical to copy recordings off my DirecTV DVR unit to another drive? How many additional drives can I daisy chain to the SATA port? If I add a second drive how does it fit into the scheme of things?

The second drive will replace your internal drive. If you remove it the internal drive will be available again. You can't move programs from one to the other. Any recordings on the external drive can only be viewed on that DVR, if you move it to another DVR they will not play.
