Cold Boston Area
hi

I've looked at the spotbeam maps, and I can't really tell if this will work.

I want the Buffalo locals, SD is fine. I tried FTA to get the RTN stations on G10, but too many trees, so I want Buffalo to get their RTN station.

I live in Boston.

Can Boston get the spotbeams for Buffalo? The map I am looking at is pretty hard to tell. Are we in their footprint?

Thanks!

Ok, Boston/NYC/Providence are on 61.5 Spot beam 16

Buffalo is on spotbeam 15

How can I tell if I can pick up spot beam 15?

What transponders are on it? Then I try to get signal strength on those transponders?

No, spot beam 15 does not mean transponder 15.

I see references to things like:

SpotBeam 15 Transponder 13.

I see maps showing Spotbeam 15 is transponders 1,3,5 etc...
So, Duh yourself

See enclosed map I found

The 61.5 spotbeams seem very tight. I am 100 miles or so from the one that covers Portland, ME and see zero signal. The 110 spots are larger.

Regards, Eric

Added: I just went and looked at the EKB, and Buffalo SD locals appear to be on 110W TP27 spot 9. There used to be a simple map of spotbeams on a site linked to the EKB, but it is no longer simple. It looks to me like Boston may not be under spotbeam 9. YMMV!!

The HD locals are on 61.5.

Ok, on 110, transponder 27, I get nothing. So no Buffalo HD for me.

On 61.5, transponder 13, where the spot sd channels are, I get a 52 signal. And I still need to peak my dish to get all of 110 better.

Does that mean I can get Buffalo SD locals? I know the HD ones are only on 110, so they are out.
