My Joey 4 is installed on a bedroom tv.

The diamond buttons had been reset.

I thought this was unusual.

I had to reprogram the double diamond button for PIP which I watch.

No problem.

PIP feature on the Joey 4 had been used to watch two channels at once which I thought was the limitation being only two channels vs.Hopper 3's multi-view four channels.

This time when I selected the PIP feature I noticed an option for Multi-View?

Could this be?

Yes it could.

This software update does this.

Multi-view PIP (4 channels) Is Now Available on Joey 4.

This is freaking awesome and very surprising!!!

Very wonderful for me.

What versioņ is the software on the Joey 4? Is it P55304? It seems that on the Hopper Plus page at Hopper Plus which along with the Joey 4 and Wireless Joey 4 are Android TV, it does mention Multi-View Coming Soon under "Important things to know."

The software version on the Joey 4 is P55304.

This PIP made me wonder if anything will happen with the Hopper Plus?

I don't have Hopper Plus so I don't know about it.

The 4K Joey doesn't seem like it's ever going to get PIP.

I had 3 4k Joeys and the lack of PIP was always disappointing.

I often used PIP when I used the VIP receivers.

I'm very happy to have MultiView on the Joey 4 and I didn't expect to get it.

My Joey 4 took a long time update to the latest software after installation last year.

Now the Joey 4 is unbelievable.

Phenomenal.

Is the only difference between the 4K Joey and the Joey 4 the inability to display 4K, besides now having Multiview?
I'm gonna contact Dish to see if I can get the Joey 4. Before I do this, will it work with the Hopper 3?

While not available on the 4K Joey, Multiview is available (or soon will be) on the Hopper Plus as well as all of the Joey 4's (Again NOT the 4K Joey)

When we were told MultiView was coming, I expected it only for the Hopper Plus and was shocked to find it on my Joey 4's.

MultiView however does not work on the streaming channels. Only the channels delivered by Satellite.

With this. update its like having a Hopper 3 in every room.

I have been using Multiview for a few weeks now and it has worked very... very well.

DISH's team did an excellent job here!

But, would Dish send me a Joey 4 to replace my leased 4K Joey without also requiring a Hopper Plus?

Woke up today.
Turned on the TV.
MultiView is still there.
Not dreaming.
will it work with the Hopper 3?
I have Joey 4 with Hopper 3 and not Hopper Plus. If Hopper Plus gets MultiView I will consider.

Don't know what Dish would do? I have Joey 4 with Hopper 3 and not Hopper Plus. I would get Joey 4.

Amazing work by Dish on the Joey 4.

Very pleased customer.

When I called to replace a Joey 2 with a Joey 4 (without Hopper Plus) they shipped it for $50 with free shipping. I was able to self activate the new Joey 4 and deactivate old Joey 2 online without a CS callback. They did force a 2 year contract so I couldn't negotiate the yearly discount dance until contract was up.

Don't have that update yet, but looking forward to it!
One comment on the plus: If your Hopper3 is on your main set, and you often watch HDR content, you may want to avoid putting the plus on that set.
Here is why: The Plus, as well as the Joey 4s, flag all output as 4K HDR. The 4K part is not a problem. It just means the Dish system (Joey4 or Plus) will do that upscaling. The problem is flagging all output as HDR.

Your TV will have different picture settings for SDR vs HDR content. If everything is flagged as HDR, color will not be accurate for SDR content which is likely most of what you watch. Also, HDR settings usually will be set at 100% brightness. If you use that all the time, it puts significant wear on your set from the wide open brightness. More heat... etc..

The Joey4s currently do this, so for those sets you have to disable the enhanced HDMI setting to have the set correctly show SDR content. Not a huge deal, but then you need to enable that setting for 4K HDR content.

Using the Hopper3 without the plus does not have this problem.
The Hopper3 outputs 1080i, 1080p or 4K HDR/SDR depending on the actual content. This way you don't have to manually adjust that HDMI setting.

Now, there is an advantage to the plus, giving you more apps and the Android/Google TV content.

I prefer using the Hopper3 without the plus for my main TV, since this avoids the HDR output issue.

I had asked the dish team if they could fix that with a firmware change, but it was reported back that seemed to indicate this was a hardware issue.

When I get the multi-view update, I will report back if that has changed, but based on the previous info, that seems to be unlikely.

No, the 4K Joey is non-Android TV (ATV) so only the Joey 4, Wireless Joey 4 and the Hopper Plus are Android TV (ATV) and also able to handle 4K. Android TV means it can also use Android/Android TV apps from Google Play Store.

I was given the option to either get a Joey 4 with a 2-year lock-in or purchase it outright. What are the pros & cons of owning the Joey 4?
If I get the Joey 4 Wireless instead of the wired Joey 4, will it work with my Hopper 3?

I called DISH again today and asked the question below about MULTI VIEW, and they didn't know. I was transferred up the ladder, and the person said they would look into it. Put me on hold, and after several minutes, my phone lost the connection. Frustration City!

Does anyone know the answer?

Can someone with a Wireless Joey 4 which should be on software vP65304 confirm if they have MutliView working?

Jim5506
Yes it works on the Wireless Joey 4.

Not sure of the software version however as I am on Beta software.

For those who still dont have it on the Hopper Plus or Joey 4 units, it is slowly rolling out.... you WILL get it shortly... and it is worth the wait!
