Multiple external hard drives- a switch?

I have a VIP722k with two 1 Gb WD My book Essential hard drives all working fine. Has anyone found a switch that can be used to switch between the drives without unplug, plug. I think that if the switch had an off position and then two or more other USB ports that it would satisfy the receiver's requirement that one drive be inactivated before the second one could be activated. I don't think that a USB hub would work because the receiver can't recognize more than one HD at a time.
