Haven't tested the Mutant brand, but have had a sample STB with the BCM7251 chipset and single tuner (plug-in).

Unit has an intuitive GUI, fast navigation, good picture quality on SD/HD and down converted UHD (my 4K died and waiting to replace), fast and accurate blind scan.

I got a sample as the sales rep indicated it would do 4:2:2.... NOT!

Engineer is working on a firmware update to address some quirks like NBC stutter, AV sync and timer errors.

If the Mutant has refined their version, it should be a nice unit!

For that price, they should at least have a RF remote.

And the parade of receivers that sound great til you look at the details continues...

Open ATV is a great OS once you get the hang of using it. There are some odd things that feel like work-arounds in the satellite GUI. As an advanced user, even I have found myself stumped and stumbling around in the menus, especially when setting up the LNBs and DiSEqC 1.2. Probably not the best OS for a newbie, but very versatile for a hobbyist once you spend a few hours navigating and programming.

I was informed at OpenATV forum that the Tuner AVL6211 is blindscan ready. For now this function is not implemented, I wonder if it supports external tuner, some of these images support external tuner like TBS5925, I hope it does, I been looking at this receiver for a while, I purchased a K1 4K receiver and it looks good on my 4K TV i can see the channels on UHD 101 and 103.
Regards.
Tunder

If it supports external tuner does that mean it should allow for viewing of mpeg4 4:2:2? Who wants to be the guinea pig? ;)

I'm looking forward to release of the Manhattan's new box as well. Mutant box looks like a great option for those who want to run E2 but current lack of blindscan support makes it a non-option.
