My 622 Delivered Today

volkodav said:
yes they can but it will close your work order and you going to have to call back to set new appointment for tech to come back and it will push you back even more and why do you want to re point if 129 mirrored to 61.5?

No, you can activate recievers without closing any work orders. If they have to close the w/o, they dont know what they are doing.

I have a ViP-622 coming to replace my Dish 811 and 501DVR. I just checked System Info (6-1-3) on the 811 and it says "DPP-Twin-2". I have one cable going to the 811 and one going to the 501. I have a 500 for 110-119 and a 300 for 129. Wiill this set up work for the 622?

Will the 622 work with a legacy Dish 500? My receiver should be delivered today, but the install isn't untill 2-25. Can I get it working with my setup, get activated, and wait untill 2-25 to get the Dish 1000? I know I would be missing programing without the 1000.

Hooked up my 622 to see what I can see. It fired up fine and seems to be functional but for some reason even though my 522 sees 119 at 100+ and 110 at just under 100, the 622 doesn't see 119 at all and 110 at around 70%.

I'm pretty green on this stuff but I would think that they should both be showing the same thing, no? I don't currently have HD so that might be part of the problem I guess but others are talking about being able to use a Dish500(110/119) + a Dish300(for 61.5 or 129). I don't have the 61.5 dish which I guess will now be required (S Florida) but is there something else that differs for the install other than the 2nd dish that would explain the loss of signal from Dish500?

So like they said, if you activate the receiver, they will close the w/o... :D

(how lucky or persistent do you have to be to find this person who knows what they are doing?)

Bumping this for volkodav. Take a look at my last post and let me know if I have what it takes to activate without installer. Thx

Maybe try a check switch or two as sometimes they need a nudge.

you need to run 2nd line to your 622 if you want to be working. or wait until tech gets there to swap it to DPP

yes but how often do you get CSR that they know what they are doing??? it is easer for them to close and as far as i know that to sent a hit out you have to close work order. my wife was trained on that stuff so that how i know.

Got my 622 today! That and my empty box.

I'm not gonna try to activate it before my install date. I haven't read the details but suspect I need a new switch. I have a Dish 500 at 119 and 110 and a second dish pointing to 61.5 w/ a couple of DP21 switches. So I'll let the installer connect everything.

But it's good to have it in the house!

looks like I did just need to do a check switch. it was able to complete the download and I was able to play around with a few features. I thought I heard somewhere that there was an HD Demo channel but I couldn't find one. I was surprised to find a couple of SD channels available, however.

anyway, I'm happy now that I know that it works, was able to validate all of the output interfaces as well.

My 622 came yesterday. I hooked up to the sat 1 input with a legacy Dish 500 with a sw21. The receiver will see 110 and 119 and complete the switch check. I couldn't get the software download though. How long would that take?

I called tech support. She said they couldn't add or delete any equipment as long as I had an open WO. She told me I would have to wait until my install date.

Just Received my 622

I came home to a nice surprise. A 17 lb. box with a 622 inside.

I placed my order on day one, 2/1/06 and given an install date of 2/25. Besides the receiver, here's what was included: remote 1 and remote 2; package 1 - with coax cable, composite cable (not component), phone cord, 4 AAA batteries; package 2 - with S-video, coax, UHF remote antenna, attenuator, 4 AAA batteries; package 3 - splitter.

Any extraordinary cable will be my cost.

Here's my equipment setup: 61.5 119 110 DP34-500, Dual-1(1), Feed(2), Twin-2(3). My TV is an LG 52" DLP with a 'DVI with HDCP Input'.
Obviously to those who know, one sat dish pointing to 110 & 119 while the other points to 61.5. In addition, I've got an antenna for OTA. My programming package is All Everything, HD and VOOM.
I intend to use the receiver in single mode for PIP and recording while watching a second program. Fairly standard stuff.

I believe I'm ready to plug and play without an installer. Am I missing something?

sdmrt - your setup is very similar to mine. were you able to do your own install? do you already have hdmi-to-dvi adapter? they sell them for like $3 on fleebay..

absolutic - I have not had the time to try setting it up on my own. I'm not sure if I have to call E* to activate. If I do, it could take more time than I have to spare. Additionaly, I don't have the hdmi-to-dvi adapter yet and I only want to do the setup once. I knew I needed one and I was going to use the weekend to purchase it. BTW I'm in Los Angeles DMA.
