My dad just joined you guys, any tips before or after the install??

I am currently waiting for my Voom to come and be installed this Saturday ( I am an HDTV kind of guy )

My dad is getting his direct TV installed this Friday, with the duel tuner DVR, and two other TV's..

Any tips or tricks for him, before or after the install? Anything cool to know?
