I bought a MyGica TV tuner that plugs into the usb c port on an android phone or tablet to get your locals on your phone. I paid $39.99 CDN for it. It comes with 2 types of antennae. A loop antenna and a little set of rabbit ears that are 5 and a half inches collapsed and 10 inches extended.

First you download an app called PadTVHD from the play store. Then plug one of the antennae into the tuner and plug the tuner into you phone. It asks something about opening the app when the tuner is plugged in then it asks what country, and to scan for channels. I selected Canada and tried to no avail to get channels with either antennae. I live in Thunder Bay, ON and my locals are real channels 2, 4, and 9. The tuner has a female MCX connector and I'm sure with a male MCX to female rf connector and a set of real length rabbit ears my locals should come in.

A few weeks ago I went to Toronto, ON and got to test out my new toy. On the shuttle bus from the airport to the subway I plugged in the loop antenna and scanned for channels. It starts at real channel 2 and works up. Within 3 minutes it had scanned in 7 channels on my motoG phone.
I got real numbers 8, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, and 30. Later that evening I scanned channels on my Acer tablet from my hotel room on the 25th floor in downtown Toronto with the loop antenna and got 8 channels. The 7 from my phone and channel 14. The 7 on my phone were all from the CN tower in Toronto and channel 14 was from Hamilton, ON. Channel 14 was 36.8 miles away. Changing the tablet with the supplied rabbit ears and re scaning for channels netted a total of 10 channels. The 8 that i got on my tablet plus real channels 26 and 27. 26 was from the CN tower in Toronto and 27 was from Peterborough, ON some 78 miles away.

All in all it seemed to work fine changing channels but the guide only seemed to work on some channels not all. It also has a PIP feature that shows the current channel in a corner of your phone to enable you to multitask. If you have locals that are uhf and strong then i would recommend the MyGica TV tuner.
