Need help with external HD

I have a HR20-100. I purchased a Seagate Free Agent Pro 750 and an Esata to esata cable. I powered down the receiver, conected the drive, powered up the drive and then the receiver. I can still see programs recorded on my internal drive and access them as well. What do i need to do to get it to work?
