i am trying to set up my pansat 2700a receiver but when i turned on the receiver it shows a 0 and a half and 8 on the receiver screen but on the tv screen i can work with the remote but i m not getting any sattelite signal yet my true south shows 43% but not changing even if i disconnect the wires to the dish.can anyone help?

What is your geographic location (zip, or longitude/latitude)?
What satellite are you trying to hit? Remember, you are looking for signal QUALITY, not strength. You can get strength just aiming the LNB at the ground. Also, the receiver has to be set on an active transponder.
It is harder to point at a linear FTA satellite than a DirecTV or Dish one...
