Need to get 118.7. Have many questions.

I have a VIP211k. Ok, so currently I'm pointed at 61.5 using a Legacy LNBF for int'l channels. I am also pointed to 110/119 using DishPro for American channels. Now int'l channels are moving to 118.7. I am in Charlotte, NC. So what are my options? Can I get an eastern arc setup and get a separate dish for 118.7? Or should I get a Dish 500+ which gets me 110/119/118.7? Is it ok if I am pointing to the western arc if I am in Charlotte, NC? If I get the Dish 500+ (110,119,118.7) how can I get 129?

I have stated my current dish setup, receiver model, and my location. Hopefully I have given all the info required to give me the best option.

Thanks

Charlotte locals are actually on both arcs so you have the option (depending on line of site issues) of going
Eastern Arc (61.5/72/77) + a Int'l dish at 118 OR
Western Arc Dish 1000+ (110/118/119/129) if you sub to HD too....

Since you pay for international channels I thought Dish had a sweet upgrade deal. Best thing to do is PM a DIRT (Dish Internet response team) member. I'll also send them a note about this thread and they can get you set up with the right dish and install date

Charlotte, NC locals are available on both Western, and eastern arc. If you have HD, I believe that we would set you up on a 1000+ to get 119/110/118.7/129. Otherwise, it would be an EA setup with a 118.7 wing dish. The 500+ would work if you do not need HD

If you send me a PM with your phone number or account number I can check and give you a more firm answer

Matt
Since the OP has a 211 wouldnt he get his locals in HD regardless if he subscribes to the HD package? If so a 500+ he'd lose the access to his locals in HD

I'd rather just pay for the dish and do the install myself. I'm going to buy from the dish store. What items do I need to buy to get 110/118/119/129? It says on the site for WA 1000.4 that I can get 110/119/129, but how do I get 118? If I get the DishPro+ 500 I can get 110/118/119, but when I look at the addon 129 LNBF it says that the bracket is included in the 1000.4 dish. I'm lost here...

Why not have Dish do it? Since you pay for internationals and they are forcing you to upgrade, why not see what Dish offers you?

But if you insist on doing it yourself you need a Dish 1000 PLUS which gives you the 118 option too

I have issues with contractors doing the work. I've gotten it done twice and they usually take shortcuts which annoys me. I'm pretty handy myself so I can do it. Sorry to ask again, but I would get the 1000.4 WA dish but how will I get the 118 option if the dish does 110/119/129?

Thanks

Maybe Matt (or another DIRT member) can verify but because they are forcing you to upgrade the install and Dish might be free.

For the link to the ebay auction that you posted above, do they really have the dish 1000's that don't require any external switches to receive 110,119 118 and 129 now? I've never seen those before.

Pick up four (4) orbital satellites: 110, 119, 129 and 118 for international. You don't need to used a 44 switch unless you are installing more than 3 receiver.

They have a new Dish Pro Plus LNB now that has an internal switch. It has three out ports and one input for the 129 sat if needed. Makes installing a 500/1000+ sooo much easier.

I currently have two dishes. One i found out today has been disconnected for years! I am wanting to use that dish for 118 only and combine with the eastern arc dish 61.5 72 77 that they installed for HD. Options?

P.S. I am in Chicagoland. I've gone on the roof and the original dish has 110 119 and 118 with a Dp34 switch. I think I may need the 4-orbital switch?
