Nest CEO reassures us that their thermostats won't show ads

Google is scaring everyone... Imagine the Google house of the future... Everything so high tech and sleek, yet plastered with ads...

But, if the Nest "connected home" products are tied to your Google account, your Nest usage could trigger ads seen in your browsers.
Use the heat a lot? Ads for sweaters, blankets, etc. Use the AC a lot, ads for coolers, beer, fans, etc.

The nest isn't really the best place to show adds. I have had one for a little over a year now and rarely ever even see the screen. It only lights up when I walk directly past it and I don't even bother to look at it most of the time. It has my schedule down to a T now and does a great job of keeping me comfortable without any intervention on my part. When I do want to make adjustments I do it from the app on my iPhone/iPad. It's just a simpler interface to navigate than the click-wheel thermostat. I suppose they could show adds in the app if they wanted but that's about the only place I would see them.
