Well if you read this thread I acquired a 5 foot dish from a member here. According to sikma it was one of the old Radio Shack "G5" dishes.

We had taken it apart so I could transport it but I got it built today. Its in the bucket o' concrete I also got. I was going to try and use a NPRM that I have but the mast on that (the NPRM) is 2 5/8" and I need 2 3/8" :(

So its in the bucket of concrete now and will try later to see what I can pick up :)

well considering the size and my location I was pretty impressed. Since 87 to 101 is about the same elevation I knew I had to hit something. Turned on the Pansat and selected G11 CW TP. Played with the elevation until the signal went to 90 which means I am very close. A slight east turn and boom 75 quality on CW

I tried 87, 91, 99, 121, 125 & 137

137 is about the same quality as the 6 footer
125 was a little low (the TBN mux)
121 is really hit and miss. The first 3 Horizontal TP's all showed the same quality as the 6 footer but the "weaker" items were really weak.
118.7 is low quality but that may be due to the size of the dish (and its adjacent sats)
91 & 87 were pretty good. NASA comes in at a 50 quality. 91 the strong TP's worked real well. Again its hit and miss with TP's. If they are strong normally they work fine. If they are weak on the 6 footer they're non existant on the 5 footer

99 worked REAL well
nets at 45
WHT at 75
My at 75
4:2:2 "feeds" (3820) were at 90
HD Clear was at 75-78

but a few feeds (KCHF, Living Faith, WAPA) were really low or non existant. Maybe I needed to tweak the dish

What I noticed was the focal depth is way different than the 6 footer. The 6 footer the lines on the LNB are around 36-38 for optimum. On the 5 footer its way out past 42. Basically flush with the scaler ring

Now to see if it will clear the house on the north side ;)

Nice pix.
Would you rate it ahead of the four foot solid for C-band?

edit:
Did ya say what you were using for an LNBF?

I've had a 36" Fortec blow over in a bucket like that, so...

as for the bucket since the old bucket broke I actually grabbed the mast and dropped it in that bucket in the pics so the mast/concrete can come out
Thought about drilling screws through it and into the deck to keep it from tipping....but I have to see if the dish can clear the roof LOS for it to work

Ice, some of the stuff on 99W was real weak yesterday seems. I lost Kcwy last night...Living Faith and Kchf were barely there. Probably wasn't your new dish. Scott I hear ya on the S2 stuff...lets go find us a 24 foot dish lol.....Blind

With my 7 footer Im getting the S-2 channels @ 55.5 with nice quality!

I can lock a few of the S2 channels fine on the 6 footer
as long as the FEC is 5/6 or lower (3/4, 3/5)....the 7/8 or 9/10 I cant even get a sniff of them
