New Genie 44 Installed

Well they came and installed the Genie and I traded in my 2 HR20-700 for it for free, and put my 2 HR24-500's in my 2 master suites. I have one question..... I notice that the genie doesn't rewind a hour and a half like my other boxes do when I turn it on. What's up with that? I keep the living room box on one channel so I can watch my show everyday when I turn on the TV without any commercials. So what is the trick? Do I have to leave the Genie on all the time?

It's a glitch with the HR44, maybe the HR34 too. It doesn't buffer.

will it buffer If I turn it on 90 min. before I start to watch? can it be set to not turn off at all?

I never turn off my HR44....
I have a buffer about 90% of the time. As I understand it, the HR34/44 sometimes uses the tuner that is feeding the buffer for other stuff and then you lose the buffer. According to some DirecTV "insiders", this is a function of some part of the design and will probably not be changed.

I haven't ran into this with my 34, but I always "arrow down" to start another tuner going then go back to channel I want to watch...
