I have both a Hopper 3 and Wally (with a connected Ext HDD). Over the past two years, I have made and saved recordings on both, mostly Frasier and Monk shows off the former Cozi TV channel which was in SD. When Dish carried Cozi, it was in SD but squeezed so you had to press the Aspect button to "Stretched" to view the channel normal. When watching these recordings, I also used the Aspect button the same way.
Now, when I try and watch any of these old recordings, they stay squeezed and pressing the Aspect button does nothing, even though it toggles through all of the Aspect options. It never did this before. All of my old recordings now stay squeezed. Changing the Aspect directly on my TV helps but then crops the screen.
What is interesting, is that I just tried making a new test recording off of another SD channel and during playback, the Aspect button works and changes the aspect of the SD recording.
Something changed somewhere but I have no idea why.
