new reciever and programming options ?

I just recently purchased a VIP 722 receiver "got a killer deal on it" to replace a soon to be obsolute 942 receiver. I have older antenna equipment I have a dish 500 with a Dlnb head not sure which one it is but I only have 2 cables comming out of the lnb and a dp 34 switch I get 110 and 119. I have a second receiver a 508. I do not get HD programming through dish or my locals from dish. I use an OTA hooked up to the back of my 942 to get these channels. Those are the only HD's I get now. I'm going to swap out the 942 tomorrow and am thinking about adding dish's HD programming. Can I get that programming off the 2 satelities I have now or do I need to contact dish to get a different dish for the HD programming if I opt to get it? I know I can only get the HD on the new VIP 722 and not the 508.

You'll need another dish to get HD. I'm guessing in NY it'll be a wing dish for 61.5. You'll be able to view the HD channels via the 508 as well as TV2 from the 722, they'll just be in SD.

The 508 will not be able to view any HD channels, even in SD.

The 508 may have some of the sd versions of the HD channels, it will not see any of the HD channels.
