New smart card

I got a recorded message from E* yesterday saying to give them a call to activiate the new yellow smart card they've sent me. Why would they send me a new card if the current one is working ok (I have a 6000U receiver)?

Also, does the new card provide any new functionality?

Not to hackers...

they must have figured out a way to crack the old smart cards, so they swap them all out occasionally.

It's the stream that old cards used that's been hacked. They are going to shut down the old stream and hopefully it will end some of this hacking.

The question still remains on what dish will do with the customers that are useing systems that are non dish 500 ready.

Did you receive the yellowsmart card or not? Your post is not very clear. Why are you afraid to install the yellow smartcard?

Wait until they send out more smart cards. Some will not get them if they ship it to the physical address instead of the mailing address (if they use UPS).

I haven't received the card yet. It wasn't a case of being afraid to install it just taking the view 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'! It seemed to me an unusual thing to do so I decided to check on the forum to get some more info.

I would think that you should have had the card already in your possession before they would call you giving you a reminder to swap it.
