I'm waiting for the OTA "Add Stations" feature. I get stations from several different directions, so a scan in one direction gets certain stations but not all. Every scan wipes the slate clean, so it you want to watch one of the missing stations, you have to rescan with your antenna moved to another direction. Then you loose the stations you had initially. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem.

I've been waiting for this feature since I got the hopper in 2012. I have duplicate ota stations broadcasting from two different channels and only want the stronger one and can't lock in on those due to duplication.

Dish, just like ALL companies who put out s/w updates, NEVER give details on every item they fix, feature they add, etc.

Actually that's not true ("ALL"). A lot of the large companies DO offer a very detailed list of what's wrong/broken and what they fixed. Does it list every byte of the OS or program that they changed? No, but they do hit the main issues and problems they or their users find. Usually you can drill down deeper for some issues to find even more specific details. I totally get that this is a Catch 22 mentality for some execs. Posting resolutions to issues by some people can be seen as a negative. Like admitting their products may not be as good as they say or exposing the ugly underbelly of software development. But truthfully in today's day most people don't see this as a negative, but a positive. That companies ARE paying attention to their products and fixing problems/security issues quickly.

Examples
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases
Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6065
Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/releasenotes.html

How do you know that Apple and Adobe's list includes everything ? Because they say so ? :p

Firefox is a different matter since it's open-source.

Yeah I can see this point and would add that if an issue is quoted to be fixed and it fails still for some, boards like this will light up. The EHD debacle comes to mind..

Oh I'm sure they don't like I mentioned!! But at least they do hit the major highlights. From the Dish angle it's just nice to see what has been updated so we're not wondering what has been addressed in an update and what is still hanging for us to "chat" about. ;)

I do wish Dish would "hit the major highlights" as well. Not sure why they don't.... I know people get all worked up with, "OMG, they stillllll haven't fixed (fill in the blank here) that's been broken forevvvvvver" but the fact is they fixed it or they didn't. Posting the list of changes doesn't change it.

Throw me in there with these issues as well. I actually unplugged the ota module out of anger last Sunday :o . Plugged it back in and it was pulling in the stations again. I also don't get why when the signal drops into the 50's you lose the channel. Shouldn't it still be able to pull it in?

me too!

Not in my experience (based on TV's with built-in tuners, other set-tops, etc, etc). At 50% signal, I don't think I've ever gotten a picture. Maybe audio, but no video.... Around 65% seems to be the on or off threshold that I've seen.

Any chance they are ever going to get rid of the reboot pop-up message at 1am? I would at least like to change it to something like 4am when I am actually asleep.

To delay the reboot and its message, just schedule a recording or press record.
The Hopper will retry in about 1 hr, repeatedly, after these have expired.
Moving a recording to or from the EHD will also delay it, I believe.

The update will automatically download when the time comes. There's nothing you can do to force an update.

All we know is it is supposed to have EHD fixes and hopefully UI fixes.

Just because it may start rolling out tomorrow does not mean you will get it tomorrow. They roll it out in waves to prevent mass chaos should the update be faulty. You could get it tomorrow, or you might get it two weeks from now, or if they find issues, you will not receive the update.

I just got the software update schedule and it says there are no scheduled downloads for this week.

While this list has been wrong before, I have a feeling we are not going to see it this week, especially considering most were at CES last week which took them out of the office.

Yep, your right. You would think things would be OK at 50%, but it's not. My Sony TV's Tuner experiences the same issues as the Hopper Dongle.

DishAnywhere is (NOT) busted for MAC's. (Update - OS Issue not DISH issue)
