I noticed this new feature to where it knows the HD signal is bad and aks if you want to switch to:SD. I thought they were getting rid of the SD duplicates,

Sorry, forgot to add it does it automatically if you have hide SD duplicates turned on. I also noticed the C41 picture hasn’t been freezing for a few seconds every now and then anymore.

Same thing with my C61k, no more freezing.

I'd think they would simply remove such a feature and message from the receivers altogether, since whenever the ("very") long awaited SD transition finally does take place there won't be any SD duplicates on the Ku DBS band to have an option to tune to anyway. ...

What would be the point of adding this feature now, when as HoTat2 says they are not far from dropping MPEG2 SD duplicates. It would have been a lot more useful to people had they added it a decade ago.

Well, its not working yet ...
I just had a bad rain storm last night during the Astros vs Dodgers game and it went out for a few minutes till the storm passed ... never dropped to SD

I've got the latest software on the HR54's ...
I don't have a HR44 any longer to check.
Does it show up somewhere in a menu and what is it called ?
I searched and I couldn’t find a setting for it. It just happens when you have hide SD duplicates selected. Maybe it will be in the next HR-54 update?

Sure, but there could be KU Band HD Duplicates at 101, of the KA Band Channels for a subset of Core HD Channels from 103, and 99.

Wonder why It was breaking up ...

But the purpose of the upcoming SD transition is to end such wasteful duplication.

So why would DIRECTV now duplicate a subset of core HD channels on both Ku 101W and Ka at 99 and 103W. And not just place the core HD channels exclusively on 101W after the SD transition?

I believe it is automatic

I don't show SD duplicates and I saw this message today during a rain event.
