New to Dish - Local Weather

I am new to Dish Network and have a question.

My mom has DISH and when on the weather channel, you can press the select button and get local weather.

I can't get my system to do that. I have the VIP 722 DVR receiver and have no phone line or ethernet connected. I thought this might be the problem, but I checked my mom's and she has no phone connected either.

Am I missing something?

First, you can access the same information by going to Dish's "HOME" menu (hit the 'home' button on your remote). From there, it's under News.

Second, you have to have "enhancements" enabled to see this, but I thought they were on by default. Just in case that's not true, check that setting. Sorry, I don't know the button presses off-hand.

It also does not work on the HD version of The Weather Channel. You'll have to go to the SD version and then eventually the enhancement will be active.
