Perhaps some kind soul could offer some advice here. My wife is wanting to subscribe to Sky Angel. She only wants it on one TV in the house. Until this evening, I'd never heard of their service and know nothing about their picture quality or customer service. However: we are existing cable customers. She understands that we will 1) Have to purchase a receiver 2) Pay for installation 3) Purchase a Sky Angel subscription. Is all this "do-able?" What type or receiver should we buy? How much would one expect to pay for installation under this scenario? Lastly, how much is a full subscription package to Sky Angel? Is the service reliable? Thanks. DW

Do some reading in the forums before you jump. The "rumor" is that SkyAngel's satellite distribution system is going to be discontinued very soon (licenses already sold/being sold to DishNet). The new way to get SkyAngel is via IPTV using broadband internet to stream to a set top iptv box connected to your tv. This service is not yet available though, so you may want to at least wait to see if it gets off the ground before sinking money into anything.

Welcome Desert_Wolf.

lumpkin is correct. Sky Angel is moving from a satellite based service to an IPTV based service. IPTV is through a high speed internet connection. The change will happen probably within the next 6 months or so.

You can read more about the IPTV service over at the Sky Angel website Sky Angel: Christian Family-Friendly Television (TV) and Radio and in different threads in this forum.

Another alternative would be Glorystar. You can find out more about them in this forum: Glorystar Support Forum - SatelliteGuys.US

WAIT a bit

1st skyangel is supposed to discontinue DBS (satellite) broadcasting SOON

2nd skyangel IPTV isn't working in the US yet and cost is PER TV, separate box and fee for each!!!

3rd skyangel CANADIAN iptv is already out of business (see other posts)

4th look into either DISH family and/or glorystar.tv for a Christian package You can get BOTH for less than the cost of skyangel IPTV
