As many of you know, the Amiko Mini HD SE was discontinued around Q3/Q4 2015. Many people were not happy when this happened. I was browsing eBay today and came across this new version of the Amiko Mini HD SE being sold by a dealer in Ireland.

This version appears to be identical to the original with the following exceptions:
  • SCART interface instead of the A/V breakout cable
  • Coaxial Digital instead of Optical
  • No RS232 port
  • No Infrared port
I used the Wayback Machine to check the AmikoSTB website for 2014 and 2015 and verified that this was definitely not offered back then and is indeed a new version that has recently become available.

2016 version: http://amikostb.com/?q=product&id=198

As far as I can see the specs are identical except for the AV/Data section. I'm wondering just how close the internals, menu interfaces and capabilities are to the original version that we used to buy? The SCART inferface is not an issue as it can easily be overcome using an adapter.

Thoughts? :)

Been a happy camper with my Amiko Mini HD.having the infrared port is nice so the receiver can be hidden.

I see the new version does not have that. Not a deal breaker tho. Thanks for the link.
