Let us know what kind of dish you have. If you have the 1000 dish with one LNB that has 3 eyes on it, then you can use the following tips:
Grab you a couple t-shirts or baseball caps and put them on the two outer eyes, leaving just the center eye exposed. Slowly move the dish from left to right. You want to move slow because the receiver might not immediately respond to finding the signal. If you don't catch it, try raising the dish 3 degrees or lowering it 3 degrees. However, if you haven't raised it or lowered it when you lost the signal the first time, don't do it this time. Make sure to put the receiver on 119 transponder 11 in the point dish screen. (menu 6,1,1) Once you lock the 119 signal, remove the baseball caps and run the check switch. Since 129 is the weakest signal on that dish, you can then switch the satellite to 129 on the receiver and go to transponder 31 or any transponder currently showing a signal. You can then try to score a few more points on that one.
