Newby and Dish HD Question

Hey All

So yeah I'm new here and have a question. New plasma coming soon and was wondering if I should wait for the VIP 922 or just get the VIP 722K right now? Have been reading about the Sling tech in the new one, but is it all worth it? Are some tech advantages over the older 722k? I noticed in the tech specs of the 922 it can do 1080p/24? This true and is it out the HDMI HD port? Any advice on which direction to take is appreciated. Thanks!

It hasn't been released yet and no solid target date that I know of.
Although it's been through beta testing, it hasn't hit the "masses" and the finding of bugs that are still in the software.

Personally, I think get the 722. If you can get something IN WRITING from Dish that you can upgrade to a 922 at little to no charge (say within the 1st 6months from 922 release), that would be the best of both worlds.

722 DVR questions (I'm sure this is covered somewhere but I can't find it ...):
1. Can you record an HD program while watching another HD program?
2. The OTA antenna input - does the 722 have a built-in OTA digital tuner?
3. The OTA antenna input - the brochure says additional fees apply to use this input?
4. The OTA antenna input - can you record from this input?

DVR fee is 10 bucks a month for account if you have a 922 otherwise its 6 bucks a month

you can record 2 HD sat feeds while watching another and 2 OTA HD feeds at same time.

You are limited to ONE channel of HD out.

the big difference the 922 has a built in slingbox so it can output a additional channel while everything else is going on.

new recevers are usually buggy, the 722K works very well currently.

the last leaked 922 release date is this summer. but one never knows

Dish has added lots of fees, for multiple receivers etc
