I was wondering what you guys think of NFL Realignment. I mean do like the divisions now or how they were in the 90s? Do you think it helps with playoff teams and rivalries? If you were to change it, what would you do?

The only thing I would like to see is the Dolphins moved to the AFC South and the Colts put back in the AFC east.

move Detroit to the CFL...maybe they can do better there :D

if not then move them to the NFC west because maybe then they might have a better chance of winning a game

Well the Red Wings play in the WESTERN Conference, why not the Lions ? :D:D:D

I would move Dallas OUT of the NFC EAST, not sure where to put them, maybe the NFC SOUTH.
Dallas in the NFC EAST never made sense, screwed up me with my geography when I was younger too.

Does anyone know WHY Dallas is in the NFC EAST in the first place ?

Don't know but the rivalries are good. I don't like the Cowboys but Cowboys/Giants, Redskins/Cowboys and Eagles/Cowboys are all very good rivalries and when there good the games are good.

So move the Boy's to an appropriate division and allow them to play the NFC East if they want them so badly.

to quote our friend the wiki in regards to the merger back in 1970

There were five alignment plans for the NFC. The plan that was selected was picked out of a glass bowl. Plan 3 was selected: Plan 1

*
o Eastern - New York Giants, Washington, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Minnesota
o Central - Chicago, Green Bay, Detroit, New Orleans
o Western - San Francisco, Los Angeles Rams, Dallas, St. Louis Cardinals
* Plan 2

Rivalry. That is why the Steelers, Clowns, Bungles and Ratbirds will always be in the same division. If the Oilers would of never left Houston, then the Ratbirds would be somewhere else.

I'm perfectly fine with our division. (AFC North).

Can't think of 3 better teams to share our division with. Each team despises one another and is a bitter rival.....

Browns
Ravens
Steelers
Bengals

I still find it odd that St Louis is in the NFC West. At least it's not like the last division setup where Atlanta and Carolina were in the NFC West.

Don't know why they were there in the first place, but the rivalries will keep them where they are.

This team couldn't beat me and 21 hand-picked guys from this site. I'll tell you what might be interesting, though. What about reseeding the league like some of the European soccer leagues - where you are put into divisions according to your record the season before. It would be fun (or horrifying) watching the Lions, Rams, Chiefs, Bengals, Raiders duke it out in one division next season! Yeah, I know the logistics would be tough, but we're just spitballin' here, right?

They should be in the East. Although, after what the Habs and the Bruins just did to them, maybe not.;)

Ditto. I can't think of three other teams I'd rather hate.

I don't know if there are fans of teams in other divisions that would root for one of their division rivals in the playoffs, but I sure wouldn't.... unless two are playing each other, I guess.

No, I would root for a tie, or something happens so they cancel the game.:D

NATIONAL CONFERENCE
North: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings
South: Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Bucs
East: Baltimore Colts, NY Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins
West: Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks

AMERICAN CONFERENCE
North: Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers
South: Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans
East: Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, NY Jets
West: Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers

Obvious differences: 1) Indianapolis and Baltimore swap nicknames, so the Colts are back in Baltimore, where they belong. 2) Colts go back to NFC. 3) Rams franchise moved back to Los Angeles, where they never should have been moved from. 4) All divisions are geographically correct.

Scheduling considerations: Besides the six home-and-home games against division rivals, there would be a designated "rivalry game" each year between several so recognized teams, e.g. Giants-Cowboys and Redskins-Cowboys, that would alternate sites each season. This would take the place of interconference games for those teams.
