As a long time Dish network sub I see it now.
<Charlie>
Well the thing The NFL wanted too much money and wanted too much HD capacity we could not afford to give up. But hey we got you the red zone channel so forget about NFL ST
</Charlie>
I glad eveyong getting RZC now it is a good channel. I think though after all these years Charlie will use it as an excuse to weasel out of doing any serious bidding for NFL ST. Why because Charlie does not want to waste the transponder space nor does he want to pay the nfl the going rate for NFL ST.
So again glad your all enjoying RZC but it cant compare to NFLST.
Charlie can't do any serious bidding for the exclusivity of NFL Sunday Ticket nor be a "player" with MLB Extra Innings because Charlie--Dish/Echostar--can't afford it. They don't have that kind of money. ALL of Chuck's major competitors--Direct TV, TWC, Comcast, et al.-- have far deeper pockets than he. Chucky is the lone independent with a major presence against the huge media conglomerates. Please, to those of you who think it is just Charlie being cheap, you have to realize that if Charlie did win the bid for NFL ST, or did mange to be the few to offer MLB Extra Innings, he would immediately be out of business and the banks would own Dish and Echostar. Please, this is a simple matter of Charlie being a small fish against the Great White's of the media ocean. Until Charlie buys a huge media conglomerate--unlikely to get the credit from the investment banks to do so in this current financial crisis--or he sells to a major media conglomerate, don't expect to ever see NFL ST, or MLB EI unless NFL and MLB really decrease the price to carry it.
If Charlie could afford it, he would provide it because it does bring in subscribers. It took Dish years (2002 or 2003?) to get sufficient critical mass until it could
afford to offer all, but NFL ST. Then MLB wanted the moon for MLB EI and stars for its new network that forced Charlie to give it up because there simply was no money in the Dish shallow pockets to meet MLB's new higher fees. Dish competes against much larger companies. The reason Charlie can be averse to high costs is because he can't afford to run the company any other way, money is that tight compared his much larger competitors. Yes, Dish can afford a billion dollar mistake and be OK after it, but his competitors can afford multi-billion dollar mistakes and still be much healthier and wealthier than Dish.
You can all stop complaining because it is of no use: like getting blood from a turnip, as the old saying goes. It's like complaining that since the millionaire up the hill subscribes to NFL ST and MLB IE, the guy who earns $20,000 per year who only has $15 left after all other bills are paid ought to somehow produce the money as if by magic so he too can subscribe to NFL ST and MLB IE. Please, Dish just does not have the really deep pockets.
