Nintendo WII Japan Version play US games?

Hi All, since the US WII's are hard to come by is it possible to buy a Japan Version WII and install a Mod Chip to play US games? I have read about the Mod Chips and it isn't real clear if they work in Japan version to play US games. I am not speaking of illegal copies but rather retail copies of US games. Thanks!

They can't, they're region free. It sucks because the Japanese Wii have better channels than the US.
