I just got a small 19" hd tv for my computer room and I got on Dish chat to see about replace my VIP222 with two VIP211K. First the guy said it would be the same you're paying $14.00 a month. I said that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking how much would it cost to get 2 of them shipped. He came back and said sorry we're not offering any promotions on that receiver. Should I take him at his word or try another chat with someone else? Would that be the best way to get HD to both TVs?

hi, if you would like me to take a look at your account, you can pm your info. I would be happy to see if we can ship you (2) VIP211K rcvrs. Switching that on your account would increase your monthly bill by $7.00 for the additional receiver. Just let me know

Just an installation note: you can't split the cable coming from the dish antenna to two receivers. They must both have a separate cable from the integrated dish/switch. This is going to be problematic unless you agree to an installer or give the Dish folks confidence that you know what you're doing.

My bill shouldn't increase at all. I'm paying $14.00 for the VIP222 and a VIP211K is $7.00 so 7x2=$14.00.

First receiver is free, so you shouldn't be paying $14/mo at all for a single 222. An additional 211 is $7.

From his sig he has a 722 and a 222 with 2 500 dishes.

Monthly cost would be the same but rewiring is needed from the switch which will need to be a DPP44 or replace the 2 dishes with a 1000.2

Two 211ks instead of one 222 receiver means two hd tvs can now see hd instead of one. Same $14.00 price a month but hd on both tvs. Add external hard drives and the dvr software for $40.00 and you can turn both 211ks into dvrs with NO dvr fee.

Don't expect a 2 for one trade. Expect to cough up at least $99 for the second ViP211K and full price for any OTA tuners.

As TheKrell points out, you'll need a new dish and more wire or a new switch and more wire and they'll probably charge around $100 for that.

I'd be carefully comparing the PQ on a 19" TV before I took this step.

is one of your receivers close to the computer room? if so you could always run a long HDMI or set of component cables from one of your existing receivers to that tv in there. if it is a short distance and you don't need independent viewing on that tv than that is what i would do.

I have a VIP722 which is free then a VIP222 which is $14.00.

Correct, Having the 2 211's would also be $14 (7 a month each). Since a cable will need to be ran for the additional receiver location, we would require that it be installed. This should be something that we can setup (replacing 1 222 receiver with 2 211's), but is account specific.

I have a 722k in my living room with a 42" Toshiba hdtv and directly behind the living room in my computer room I have a 19"Toshiba hdtv. I use an hdmi splitter and run it to both rooms through a hole in the wall I put there. I did this mainly because using the Google Revue unit on my main tv makes the sound come out different in the two rooms. Using the hdmi splitter eliminates this sound problem and I am able to watch my revue unit in both rooms or even my blue ray player. Works great. All I need now is the sling extender so I could turn tv 2 into hd for my master bedroom and I wouldn't need the other 211k in that room.
