Hi

I have my 622 receiver hooked up so that channel 2 runs through my DVD recorder.
This lets me make hard copies of things I want to save while watching TV on Channel 1. I have had the HD receiver for less then a week.

I checked it all out and it was working fine right after instillation.

Today I wanted to make a copy of a TV program the I had recorded to give to a friend who missed it.

When I switched to channel 2 I did not get any video, either from live TV or my recorded stuff.

I don't mean the screen is blank, I'm getting a signal, I can hear the audio, I can view menus etc, but the TV video is not there, just the sound.

I messed around with it for a while but couldn't figure out what's happing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Mike

1st guess is your on the wrong channel. Frequently if you can hear audio and see distorted video you are off by 1 channel higher or lower.

Hi

I'm not sure what you mean be "Off by a channel".
Where would I adjust this?

I am importing the signal into my TV through "AV1", AV2 is my VCR and Component I is the dish box directly from channel 1.

On my DVDR I can opt to view the DVD or In1 which is the TV signal using the drive select button.

I get a clear image of the Menus etc. but no video at all, just a blank screen, just the slightly illuminated area where the video should be.

I have it on right now and it just isn't displaying any TV video, the video generated by the dish box is clear as is video from a DVD played in the DVDR.

Any help appreciated.

Mike

Let me summarize, you use TV output 2 to feed audio and video to your DVD burner and programming on TV output 2 does not display, only the menus.

What type of connection are you using, composite or s-video, and have you tried switching to the other (if you use s-video, try composite or vice-versa).

First thing I'd do is a hard reboot of the receiver (unplug it for 30 seconds).

Hi

Yes that's right.

I will try the hard reboot, wasn't sure how, my old one had a button. It's recording something right now so I will have to wait until tomorrow.

I'm using RCA connectors both from the dish box to the DVDR and from the DVDR to the TV.

I don't think the connection setup is the problem is because it did work just the way it is now, after the new box was installed. I used it that way several times, but today I get the bit with no video. Just the sound and the menus.

I think I've observed this happening on two different receivers (only menus visible, and no video) on TV1. A hard reset has always fixed it.

Hi again

Unplugging the unit and waiting a while, then plunging it back in did the trick.

Thanks for the help.

Mike
