Non DVB-S2 / PVR FTA Receivers

I have a stack on non DVB-S2 / PVR FTA satellite receivers that I would like to get rid of. Are they worth selling or should I simply throw them in the trash?

If I would advertise them within the Satellite Guys classified section and / or EBay would I be able to sell them for a few dollars each plus shipping?

Just the basic FTA receivers are good for tuning dishes. I have one that I can just grab and plug into a 13" tv whenever im out tuning a dish or moving it to a new satellite

Exactly. I have a Pansat 2500a that I use for just this purpose.

I still use my first FTA receiver, a Pansat 2700, for aiming purposes.

There are many non-HD, non-S2 signals up there, so these receivers are still worth something.

I would never throw them out. How about making them available for the shipping cost for other members?

I also use my 2700A for dish pointing and viewing. It works great.

I still use a Pansat 3500SD for in the house as I have not decided on a S2 receiver yet and a Coolsat 5000 in the garage just for music. Also have a Coolsat 4000 that I take to aim dishes etc. They all have a purpose.

I would take one. Always have room for another FTA receiver, especially PVR capable!

Tomorrow I plan on organizing my communications room and separating what receivers I'm going to keep and which ones I'll sell, give away or perhaps trash. The receivers I decide to sell will be made available within the classifieds section.

Some of the receivers I have:
(2) DSR-550 VOOM Videocipher II with OTA modules: I might keep one in case Skyvision begins activating them for H2H service, but I'm not holding my breath.
(1) NeuSat SP-6000: I like this receiver and may use it within the communications room or perhaps sell it.
(1) SatPros DSR-500S: Remember when we all purchased these for $25 each from Satellite AV? I will probably sell or give it away.
(1) Coolsat 7100 Micro PVR: A nice receiver, but the blind scan stops occasionally. I believe it's when it sees a DVB-S2 signal, but not sure. I will probably sell.
(1) Uniden Analog UST-5500: A very nice compact analog receiver. After hearing about the NFL preseason games being seen in analog I might give this receiver another try.
(1) No Name Digital FTA Receiver with PVR: Won it from Satellite AV a few years ago. Nice receiver, but only DVB-S. I will probably be selling this one or giving it another try.
(1) General Instrument DSR1500S Digicipher Rack Mount Receiver: Older model that I believe only receives digicipher I signals. I might trash, sell or give away.
(2 or 3) Blonder Tongue Videocipher RS Analog Receiver: I have several that play great, but 2 or 3 have broken fuse holders in the rear that I never bothered to repair. I might sell or give away.
(1) MACOM CSR T1002 Analog Rack Mount Receiver: I'm going to try this out to see if it still works. I will probably sell or give away.
(1) DSR-410 for H2H Service: Lights come on, but then remain lite and never continues booting. I believe it once worked, but not 100% sure. I'll probably sell to a DIY person who might be able to repair it for H2H service.
I also have 2 Chaparral and 2 Drake Analog receivers that I might sell or throw away as well as other receivers that I might want to get rid of.

At one time I had well over 100 analog and digital receivers, but have been slowly getting rid of them over the past few years. Roughly 25 analog receivers went out to the trash.

Of the receivers you choose to toss out, you should consider taking them to a re cycler. Most any place that accepts computers will take any electronics. It's the GREEN thing to do!
Maybe one of these places are near you.

I know what you are saying but it costs alot of green

to go green!

My brother cleaned out his stash of CRT montors a

couple of years ago when it used to be free in Erie

to recycle electronics. Those receivers are lighter

than monitors but there still is some weight there.

The last time I checked it was 50 cents a pound

for electronics. Those monitors somehow multiplied in

his barn and he ended up hauling in

over 100 monitors!

Lets see... 100+ heavy monitors today at 50 cents a

pound!!!...

Now that is green! :

Yea, you have to "shop around" to dump this stuff for free. I have one place that takes anything electronic/electrical for free except tv's or monitors that have a glass tube display. But luckily our local Goodwill will take those for free as recyclable material.

The only place free to dispose of any electronics in my area

is the neighbors dumpster!!
