Hey all. Ive got a 722 and Im having some issues with recording. I recently had it set to record a movie at 2am and it only recorded 34min of it. I figured there was a conflict with another program. But last night it did the same thing only recorded 44min of a movie and stopped. I made sure there wasnt any programming conflict with another program and there wasnt. Anyone got any ideas? Also if I set it to record to TV2 and say there is a conflict with another program will it recird to TV1 if its not being used or does it just not record it at all? Thanks

What time is your receiver set to update.Mine is set at 3am and if I have anything set to record around that time it will only record up till it does its daily update at 3 am.Try changinging update time or try and remember to not record anything around update time.

The update time is not supposed to affect the recording of movies or timers in progress. I record several movies in the am so it won't interfere with the prime time shows. This often will cause my receiver not to update due to the update time being 2:00 am. But just in case maybe you should change your udpate time to a time later in the morning.

A couple weeks ago I posted a similar thread on my 622. Recordings were being cut off in the middle. It was recommended that I do a "power button" reboot. Knock on wood, all's well since then.

3am update or not it should still record. The only symptom I seem to have is that the update that night is skipped and I get the 'phone line' warning when I turn it on the next day. Same thing if I forget to turn it off at night when I go to bed. At least, based on trial and error thats what seems to be happening.

Afaik, the update will not stop a recording, the recorded item takes priority over the daily update. I found when recording a program at the update time, I would get a message after the recording was done something to the effect, "do you want to download the update now", if you don't cancel out, the update and reboot would start. I'm wondering if these cut off recordings might have been because the channel was being manipulated by dish during the early morning hours, maybe changing transponders or something like that? You can also check the recorded items list, hit "dvr" three times, this will take you to the list of pending recordings. You can then view the past recordings (think it goes back about 8 days) by going to the list, then scrolling up. I don't remember what all info is in the info, think it shows the start and stop time, the tuner, and something else. Might be some info that could shed some light on the incomplete recordings. Yeah, and when all else fails, do a power cord reboot; pull the plug for 30 seconds, then plug the dvr back in.

I have had two events not record properly that past few days also on my 722 also. One was a 30 minute kids show. It showed that there was 30 minutes recorded however the screen froze about 10 minutes into it. I had to hit stop just to get it back the the My Recordings page. This also happened on a 2 hour movie. When I used the fast forward feature to go through the recording it seemed to skip from from about 1hr 10 minutes remaining to 37 minutes remaining and then froze on a screen. I always stopped at the 37 minutes remaining mark despite saying that the recording was 2 hours long. My 722 recently upgraded to version L617. Heat should not be a problem for my hard drive but it sure sounds like either a hard drive issue. Could the software update have done something?

I would watch what time your "reset" is at night. I've changed mine to noon since I'm never home during that time. Partly because it was very loud at night and would wake me if i was sleeping lightly.

I've just saw, Saturday, a 2 hour movie recording truncated to about 40 minutes.

When I turned the 722 on there was an 005 error message indicating that the channel wasn't authorized. There were two more times the message appeared out of the blue while viewing live. The problem doesn't persist after changing the channel and then returning to that original channel.

The kicker is, these channels, that I'm seeing this 005 error message on, are the HBO/Starz channels I'm now getting after signing-up last Thursday for the 3 month free preview.

My base programming is TurboHD Silver, FWIW. Software version: L617RJKD-N

I've seen the 005 not authorized message before too, but not recently. They were on non-premium channels so I don't know what's up with that. Mine's at 625 receiver subscribed to AT100 or Bronze or whatever they're calling it nowadays.

This may be happening to me, from time to time. It could explain a lot of the "Stopped by User 1" messages. Although most of mine are at 4:12 AM MST--not near the daily reset time, which were different. Most of those were on a re-man. A recent overnight that I really wanted stopped on both 722s at the same time recording a premium channel (Encore Bond that messed up before), so I couldn't blame the one this time.

I am wondering if the issue could be a problem with the signal coming in. I have seen where an hour show will only get a few minutes because the receiver lost the signal and couldn't get it back.

Just a thought,
Geoff

I have another possibility. While using Encore (probably and on map down) as background for guide surfing, I got a blank screen in the window. I took my time to investigate but on return to full screen, it said my smart card was not authorized.... As I have AEP+full HD and I was set to the all HD guide this should not have happened. On up/down I ended up with WFN or such, quite a channel jump.

This more troublesome replacement reman 722 has a blue/purple card. Are these cards reliable or just lying? Could this be the source of all my stopped programs, etc.? Well I've pulled and replaced, so I look for any future problems. When you report a problem please specify if you have a removable card.

I dunno what that means. lol but I had another truncated movie this morning Arrgh! Slither was set to record at 3:20am on HBOx and when I checked today it shut off after recording only 19 minutes. %#%^ Curses, Red Baron!

I recorded Multiplicity at 1:10am a couple weeks ago, and when I went to watch it I found the recording stopped 50 minutes into the movie -- so right at 2am. I checked my service update setting and it is set for 3am, so needless to say I am really perplexed by this behavior. Furthermore, my 772 was less than 2-weeks old! It is also connected to a Tripplite line conditioner so I know it wasn't caused by a spike/drop in power. Is this typical/acceptable behavior for a 722? If so, I sure am going to miss my HR10-250 (HD DirecTivo).
