I know this has been discussed in another thread...but I just put executive resolution office on notice that I'll cancel my $140/month if they don't get their RSN HD service resolved or provide me with a good credit.

I know Blah, blah, blah, but last night I had to go to a neighbors house to watch the Blues playoff game in HD!. A F*&king playoff game!! Dish and the Arses that run it decided that we in STL couldn't watch the game on VS in HD (blacked out) they only gave us the SD feed on Fox Sports MW.

What a crock of bullchit. If this girl from CEO office doesn't come through with a HUGE discount I'm going to Uverse. Which is where I had to watch the game.

Scott, will you ask your contacts to get their collective heads out of their arses!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

When you have to justify your worth by the amount you pay each month, it's the sign of being a dip. A single $140/mo account doesn't mean jack. Now if you had a few hundred accounts paying that each month, they might care.

And as has been stated, DISH can't control blackouts. The sports teams and programming carriers dictate where blackouts occur. Which means VS, didn't want you to see that game *gasp*.

The problem you run into is that you follow the least popular major sport in the US. More people will complain if an MLB or NBA game isn't in HD as opposed to an NHL game, playoff or not. E* has never positioned themselves as the sports leader, but my buddy with D* had to watch the game in SD as well. I doubt either E* or D* will ever do as well as local cable companies when it comes to RSN's. They have to uplink a couple of RSN's for you. The satellite companies have to uplink every one of them.

Zero, I'm working stiff like everyone else, my gripe is that I pay that much and I would expect to get what dish advertises. HD was available both to Direct and Uverse. I'm confident that Dish too had it available they are just to cheap to accomadate the TP space.
Wetz dish has pulled the same BS with MLB, Fox MW has stated that all the games are broadcast in HD Dish decides which ones to show in HD.

You went to your neighbor's house, what servcie did he have, DirecTV? If what you said is true, all the reasons to switch to D*:) E*'s RSNs are known to be lacking compared to D*'s, or any sports programming for that matter.

Watched DirectTV it was available both on VS HD and FSN HD. Dish blacked out VS and only made it available on FSN SD
My other neighbors have Uverse and VS was blacked out but FSN was in HD

....I just put executive resolution office on notice....
Do you have an e-mail address or phone number for Dish's executive resolution office?

I have an issue that their technical dept has been unable to resolve and I'd like to elevate it higher.

Thanks.

By far my biggest complaint with the blackout rules is that I think it should state as such in the guide if the game is going to be blacked out in your area. It's really annoying to set a recording for a game I intend to watch when I get home from work, avoid any contact from other sports enthusiats who might spoil the game, and get home to find the game was blacked out and it was on one of the alternate channels.

An SD version from an alternate is better than no game at all.

That being said, it does sound like that particular game should have been blacked out on VS since the Fox RSN had the broadcast rights. Your beef should be with the fact you don't get your RSN in HD full time but that goes with the E* territory.

However, I have seen a few times where they've blacked out a game for no reason I can tell on my TV which means I don't get any version at all. I can call and complain but all I get is same standard explanation that souns like they're reading out of a book and not hearing me when I say IT'S NOT BEING SHOWN ON ANY OTHER CHANNEL IN THIS MARKET, I'VE CHECKED. Don't know what I'm supposed to do when that happens.

If you are a DiSH Network subscriber go to the game in the EPG and press INFO. Then look for the Blackout Symbol.

What does the black out symbol look like?

If it's there does this mean that it's blacked out in some markets (ie maybe not for me) or is it specific to me in that it means it's blacked out for me?

If they can give me a symbol that specific enough to tell me that it's blacked out for me, wouldn't it be better to just say 'Blacked Out' and to tell us what channel it is on?

They give you enough info to determine if it is blacked out for you on the channel you have selected. It is a bit much for them to read your mind and tell you to watch your game on channel XXX.

The blackout symbol appears in the upper right hand area of the info screen. You will know it when you see it.

EDIT: DIRECTV does not show you the blackout status of a game before the coverage starts. DiSH Network does. The blackout status is most frequently updated 2 days before the event occurs, but may chage when coverage changes.

Thanks for the info, I look for that in the future. I've complained to dish a few times and no one has pointed that out to me.

I wouldn't call it 'reading my mind' to show me which channel THEY have decided to show the game on though. More like I have to read THEIR minds. ;)
