I have a CoolSat 4000 Pro with linear LNB, 39" dish and HH90 mount. All works fine. I'm still learning. My wife asked me: "How do we watch the "$" channels?" How do I go about subscribing or purchasing a card? I trust this question isn't too far out of the FTA league. Thanks.

I assume you are talking about the channels on IA5?

That would be Globecast, which is a subscription service.

Others on AMC4 and stuff you would have to go through that channel.

I hope you aren't talking about Dish Network programming

Now What! Replay

Iceberg,
Thanks. Am I safe in assuming that the card somehow connects directly with/into the CoolSat 4000 Pro. GlobeCast was advertising "I had to buy their receiver. Any thoughts?

Coolsat 4000 Pro should work, they WANT you to buy their receiver.

Not everything up there with a $ (which means a scrambled signal) is available by subscription to the general public though. Much of it is corporate video that's scrambled using professional systems such as Scientific Atlanta's PowerVU, and its only meant for the entities its being uplinked for (Home Depot channel, for example).

And the irony is that with all the stuff up there... PPV Movies, Porn, Sports... It's the Home Depot channels of the world I want to see! There's just something about being told you can't get it makes it more interesting. But I'm funny that way I guess.

I have to agree, there is one corporate channel in particular i would love to see, the volkswagen channel on g10. I am an avid devotee of the audi / vw marquee and i listen to the audio on that channel when they are broadcasting, sure would be nice to see the video also ;-)
