Here's an easy one.

If I upgrade from AT120 to AT120+ (mostly for the big ten network) and drop the protection plan (this ends up being cheaper than AT120 with the protection plan), do I reboot my DVR, run a check switch, or do the channels just appear out of thin air? :)

You can do a reset on the receiver to have the updated guide information download. It will do it on it own over time but if want it to show, the reset is the easiest way to make that appear.

The receiver will show the new channels with no guide data, just tune to a new channel with no guide data and press the right arrow key, the unit will ask if you want to download new guide data - YES!

Reset usually doesn't update the guide. To update the guide, do a check switch test.

In addition to running a check switch, sometimes - but not always - I can "max out" the guide to the farthest time/date and it will prompt if I want to update the guide info.
