Now bear with me folks.
I have one HiDefinition Dish receiver which I rent and one standard definition which I own.
Both of these receivers are connected to two satellites dishes of which
One is dual twin pointing at 110 and 119
The other is a single pointing at 61.5.
Both receivers have been working fine until last week,
The standard receiver reports INSTALLED DEVICE: UNKNOWN.
A switch check on the standard receiver fails no matter what dish type I click.
The HiDef receiver works just fine getting all three satellite locations.
I've rebooted the standard receiver, pulled the plug on it, pulled the smart card and all coombinations of the above and once in a while it will work -- up until now.
Any ideas?

Thank you

Sounds like a connector going bad due to corrosion or the rec itself was suffering a slow death.

Try switching the rec locations and see if the problem follows the SD rec or stays in the same rm

You have bad news when it comes to receiving all HD channels. 61.5+110+119 in no longer acceptable.
You need to be eastern arc (EA)=61.5+72.7+77 or western (WA)=110+119+129.
If you have line of sight for 129, move your 61.5 dish to it or get a 1000.2 dish. If not, get the 1000.4 dish.
Then your dish will not be your limit. With any non-VIP receive you must use WA.
Choice may depend on where your locals are, WA EA or both.
