Does anyone know if it's safe to sell my Orby DVR with the SIM card enclosed? I have cancelled my service, and would like to recoup some of the cost of the DVR.

If I was in the market for one, I wouldn,t buy it without a sim card!! That would be like buying a car without an engine.

I sold my Orby DVR with the SIM card on eBay. The buyer said he called Orby 3 times and they couldn't get the SIM card to work. So I refunded him the full amount and said he could keep it because i didn't want to pay return shipping.

Looking back, I think I was taken. According to Titanium, Orby will send replacement SIM cards.

My whole Orby DVR experience was a disaster and I regret it.

I had a bad ebay experience lately. I bought a perculator coffee pot. A couple days later I got a tracking number that said my coffee pot was delivered by federal express a day before I even bought it! Ebay did refund the money a couple weeks later. What made me disquested with ebay after they close the case you can,t leave any feedback.

I sold my Orby DVR with the SIM card on eBay. The buyer said he called Orby 3 times and they couldn't get the SIM card to work. So I refunded him the full amount and said he could keep it because i didn't want to pay return shipping.

Looking back, I think I was taken. According to Titanium, Orby will send replacement SIM cards.

My whole Orby DVR experience was a disaster and I regret it.

I recently did something similar this week.

I had a $10 Tv mount and sold it on eBay for $15 with free shipping.

Just wanted to get rid of it. It was brand new sealed in the factory box.

Nobody wanted it had it on eBay for months. Finally sold it a few weeks ago to someone in Puerto Rico.

I go to ship it and it was $18.

So It wasn’t worth my time emailing the buyer and asking for more money, so I went ahead and took the $3 loss and shipped it.

2 days ago the buyer gets it and was complaining about it not including a few plastic washers or spacers.

I just issued a refund.

Guy emails me today wanting his money back, and I told him to check his PayPal account and see I refunded him 2 days ago. I said some other things I shouldn’t have, such as what did you expect for a $15 Tv mount that included free shipping. Told him not to contact me again.

Never in 22 years on eBay, did I ever get mad at a buyer.

Then speaking of Orby, I sold a brand new receiver to this guy. He gets it 2 days later and everything is fine.

He ends up wanting to return it a few weeks later because the Orby installer that Orby sent to install it blew him off 3 times.

After I refund his money (minus shipping both ways) he leaves me a negative feedback.

How is that my problem you can’t get it installed?

Took me 2 weeks, but at least eBay removed then negative feedback after they read the guys message about not being able to install it.

Moral of the story.... never sell an Orby DVR on feebay.

It seems I hear nothing but bad things about those DVRs, which made me wary about getting my grandparents one. I did anyways and they haven't had any issues with it.

Mine has been flawless, maybe needing an occasional reboot, but ANY computerized device needs that...so for the minimal investment, for me it's excellent. The concept in how they mix local and subscriptions without high cost to me makes complete sense. My Jeep Renegade had more issues with it's computer than my Orby does!

I was cheated out of about $300 about 20 years ago as a buyer.

Been scammed out of a few HU cards that buyers claim where missing from the Directv box I sold them.

However with the buyer protection these days and pay pal, I feel the buyer has lots of leverage in the case of a bad transaction.

You are lucky that you were able to get eBay to remove the negative feedback.

I think I have only had negative feedback removed twice in all the years I have sold on eBay. One time the guy had my name in the feedback. The other time there was profanity.

eBay buyers can be a tough crowd. eBay used to be more 'seller friendly', but the balance of power is now all in the buyers hands. Sellers used to be able to leave negative feedback for buyers.

As for the Orby I sold on eBay, I lost everything -- the receiver and shipping cost. There was nothing wrong with the smart card like the buyer claimed. I got 'taken'.

But now according to Orby's website they are not activating any receivers. I don't know if they have been sold or plan to go out of business? So the guy that got my receiver for free might end up with a doorstop, lol. What goes around comes around.
