If you have a HR24 (or anything other than the HR34), can you get the client C31 and use that to eliminate the need for another AM21? Or, does the client need a HR34?
Did the same thing to me too. The explanation I got was that expert installation was free so the 50.00 goes into dtv's pocket. DTV customer service sucks after you sign that 2yr contract. They will nickle and dime you any way they can. But if you consider buying a receiver from a out side source you have to send DTV your card and they send you one of theirs at a 20.00 charge per card so they get you again!
If you buy/lease a recvr from a source other than D*, Solid Signal, Claudes place or where ever, you simply hook it up and call it in and they ask for your card number and recvr number and your done.
You do NOT have to send your new card to them at all.
The only time you need a different card is if your getting a USED recvr, then they will send you a new card for $20.
