original 'DishPro 301 remote doesn't work

Just this week had my Dishnetwork 500 receiver converted to FTA...but when we got home and set it up, the remote doesn't work it. The remote will only turn the TV on....

The tech said to remove the batteries, push all the buttons, put the batteries back in, then push Sat button. Did that, still nothing.

What can I do to fix this, or is it hopeless?
