Okay, after reading the forums I can see that I am the least knowledgeable person here. If you need help with a PC however, let me know... lol. I bought an antenna because D* does not offer local channels in my area. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to do to hook it to the "antenna in" on the splitter outside. When I do so, I do not see anything on my guide, nor do I see any way to perhaps program it in. When I tried to hook to my receiver I also could not see any change. I can hook directly to my tv (obviously) however I would rather not have to split and run 3 wires if it is possible to run it to the connection (splitter) outside that goes to the entire house. Do I need some other component to achieve this? I apologize in advance if this sounds idiotic, but never had Satellite before and am clueless in this regard.

Which receiver do you have? Not all of them have OTA tuners. You can purchase the AM21 (the external OTA tuner from Direct).

IF you have a rec. with an OTA tuner in it, you need to run the Antenna Set Up .
Look under Sat and Ant in the system set up section.

Like DodgerKing said, not all rec's have tuners in them anymore, which ones are you using?

What "splitter" do you have? And what sat antenna?

okay here goes, I have 2 D12-100s and a dvr model R16-300, my antenna is an omnidirectional metrostar 2000 amplified and the splitter outside is a Zimwell ms3x4wb-z 3x4 multi-switch 40-2150mhz. As far as the last post asking which sat antenna, I am not sure how to tell? Also thanks for the help and quick responses

I've never had a D12 or a R16 so I'll leave it to the others as to if it has a OTA tuner in them.

AFAIK, the only receivers that had OTA capability was the HD receivers, none of the SD receivers had OTA tuners.

None of those receivers has OTA. You can connect your antenna to the 3x4 multiswitch (it's not a splitter) and use diplexers at the receiver end, feeding the antenna input of your TV (or converter box if the TV doesn't have a digital tuner. Feed the TVs with either S-video or Composite (plus audio) from the receiver and the TV Input key on your remote will switch you between the antenna and satellite.
