I just got off the phone with Dish about my loss of 3 local channels (cw, cbs, nbc) last night. The account specialist mentioned they are in negotiations and hopefully they will be back soon but I asked about OTA but the account specialist wasn't sure what was all involved. My quick research it looks like I need to do the following

1) Purchase a DISH OTA usb module
2) Plug in the DISH ota usb module, with a coax antenna connected to it
3) Go into Dish settings, my diag, ota and set it up.

Am I missing anything or is that simple? I know sometimes you have to call dish to activate a feature and want to know that ahead of time just in case. Also is there a good vendor who sells the Dish OTA inexpensively or is Dish known to give breaks when people have lost local channels? I know it's inexpensive but I wouldn't turn down a deal especially since I wasn't expecting to lose my locals.

I guess a lot depends on where in PA you are and whether you get a good signal from an antenna. But, theoretically, yes an antenna to the OTA dongle will give you OTA TV..... There are no breaks and Dish is probably the cheapest and quickest way to ge the dongle, but you could ask....

It's pretty simple to set up.

I can't remember if the setup is in diagnostics or a separate area, but it's there.

I'm waiting myself for an adapter(no loss of channels, just wanting to join the club here), but from TRoubkeshooting them in the pat, it's pretty much plug and play, after the scan for locals has been completed

According to TVfool and other sites I'm close to the locals that a decent indoor antenna should receive them. I ordered the dish usb ota module and will see what happens. Thanks.
