Hi again. Well as I posted earlier my friend was to come over and help adjust the OTA so I could get the ABC station. After much ado I went from not getting it all to now having it come and go every so often. Too frustrating to actually watch the channel. So I called VOOM customer service and was immediately put thru. NO holding whatsoever. I explained the situation to the guy on the phone and he scheduled an antenna upgrade. When you ask? Thursday! He was VERY nice and professional. Could I have asked for better service? Nope!

Customer Service?

Hi:
I hate to rain on your parade, but just because a VOOM CSR promised you something on the phone does not really qualify as "customer service". Read some of the messages on this forum. I figure you have about a 50% chance of them actually scheduling a service call. A 50% chance of them getting the necessary equipment to the installer in time for your first service call. A 50% chance of the installer actually showing up at the scheduled time. And a 50% chance that the upgraded antenna will improve reception over the standard antenna. I hope everything works out for you but as one to whom promises were made and not kept, I doubt they will.

I called and ordered Voom today. I was surprised to have a phone call not even 2 hours after ordering from the local installer here in town. I was even scheduled 4 days ahead of what Voom scheduled me for. I call that impressive customer service. I will let yall know how my install goes on the 8th of July.
 
When I was facing an operation I went online and read 100 letters about how bad this surgery turned out for other people.............my surgery turned out fine; just one of about 200,000 such operations per year I later discovered. The people who were happy never wrote in.

So, here goes.....


When my VOOM was installed in April I had an excellent installer.....

When I called customer service to upgrade my programs I had excellent service.

I have had excellent reception 99% of the time and I am on the West Coast.

I have a feeling that the successful installs and service keep people too busy watching VOOM to bother posting.

I agree! I had VOOM installed June 23rd. I am able to get all the OTA channels except Fox and WB. I called customer service on Saturday got to talk to someone right away. She transfered me to installation support and while we waited (she stayed on the phone while I waited) she made up a work order for me. Installation support didn't have any idea what was wrong but they scheduled a service call for Friday to resolve the problem.

I have since done some of my own investigative work and checked the alternate receiver (good decision to have two installed) and that receiver brings in FOX and WB ok. Must be the receiver.

No Problems with VCS or TECH support.

I give them high marks.

Are FOX and WD mapped on the first receiver ??? Sounds weird how one
gets it and one doesn't

The receivers aren't premapped. The mapping happens once the box is
activated and depends on what zipcode the box is registered to.

I'm pleased to hear you had a good outcome. I think you are correct
in thinking the module may have been to blame.

Please let me reinterate, the boxes are not premapped, meaning before
they come to your home. The satellite maps them according to the
zipcode given to it by the address on the assigned acct.

So when one box is showing correctly and another isn't, it is almost
always a problem with the equip.

Yes! Fox and WB are mapped. I think it could be the 8vsb module on the reciever. I am going to switch receivers this weekend and see if the problem stays with the receiver. If it does then it is a problem with the receiver.
