Pay $9.99 to keep HD Programming on my 921 when upgrading to 622 and HD Platinum

Now that my annual package is up for renewal, I was going to lease a VIP 622 receiver for $199.99 lease upgrade fee and change from America's Top 180 + All Premiums + Dish HD Package + Voom Original Package + Columbus Locals to the HD Platinum Package + Columbus Locals.

My old costs were the following:

America's Top 180 = $550 yearly which calculates to $45.83 monthly
All Premium Movies= $418 yearly which calculates to $34.83 monthly
Columbus Ohio locals = $5.99 month ($0.99 more since it is not bundled)
Dish HD Package = $9.99 month
Voom Original = $5.99 month
Dish Home Protection = $5.99 month
4 Additional Receivers = $20 month
Calculated Monthly Total = $127.64

I thought that my new costs would be the following:

Dish HD Platinum = $99.99 month
Columbus Ohio Locals = $5.00 month (now bundled)
Dish Home Protection = $5.99 month
4 additional receivers = $21 month (drop 1 but add a dual tuner)
Calculated Monthly Total = $131.98
Minus $10/month rebate for 10 months

However, the DISH CSR insisted that I would still need to pay $9.99 month if I wanted to keep the existing HD on my 921 receiver. I have 2 HD TV's and was going to replace a DVR-501 with the VIP-622.

Has anyone else who upgraded to the VIP-622 and HD Platinum Package and kept their old HD receiver been charged $9.99 to retain HD programming on their old HD receiver? I have cancelled the upgrade until I figure thuis out. I wanted to use the 921 on my old HD TV but I did not expect to have to pay $9.99 additional cost.

Not for sure on that one but if you get a new receiver with new HD Programming you will not be albe to get all of the HD Channels on your old one. You might just update both or just get a 211 and 622 due to at least that way you can get all the same HD Channels.

I kept my 921 when I bought a 622. I just pay the 5.00 2nd reciever fee on my 921.
I can still watch all the old HD channels on the 921.

Yeah if you want to keep your old unit you might E-mail them and let them know what you want. I would think they could do something for you.

I have platHD on my 622, no old HD charges on my still active 921 and I have all the HD channels I can get on it. No Additional HD changes.

yeah if you get a metal pack, you'll get the old hd and voom on any hd mpeg2 receiver as far as I know. I have a 622 and an 811 with platinum and the 811 gets all the stuff it used to.

I kept my 811 also, Platinum pack... use the 921 for Rave and before last week CBSHD...

I have a 622 and 811 with HDBronze. The 622 gets all channels that Bronze offers and the 811 gets everything it used to. I actually kept my old HD Pack + voom for a while after I activated the 622. When I switched to Bronze, I immediately picked-up about 10 more (MPEG-4 headered) HD channels for the 622, no change for the 811, and saved $1 per month in the process...

The CSR was wrong. When I added the 622, my old 6000 still gets the MPEG-2 HD channels with no additional charge for them.
