Phone Call from Dish the Day Before a Bill is Due?

Got a phone call from Dish today that went to voice mail. It was an automated message that seemed to start before my voice mail started recording, so it's not 100% clear what it was about. It sounded like it might just be a reminder that my payment is due to tomorrow. Is that something Dish Network does? Just confirming so I know I don't have anything to worry about.

I usually pay my bill very early, sometimes online before I even get the bill in the mail, so I've never run into this before. :) This time around I'm going to have to pay on the due date itself, though -- just the way my finances are working right now. Still on-time, though, unless something goes drastically wrong. :)

I got a call a couple of months ago. I payed my bill the day it was issued. It stated that my payment was late. I had added some programming around 10 days after I paid the bill, although I shouldn't have to pay that until my next bill is issued. I sent them a payment after that so their stupid automated system wouldn't shut off my programming.

I think it is pssivle that you might have been paying to soon ahead. I don't know. Maybe the DIRT team can look at it.

They've seen all your piss and moan threads on here, and have decided to sic the automated patrol on you! ;)

I don't think I payed it too soon. I'm on paperless billing and payed it when they sent me an e-mail saying my statement was ready to pay on line.

That's weird. I wonder if it was just a reminder. Either way if you PM account info, I can look into it for you.

If anyone ever has a problem, or question about their bill, you can always just shoot Tony, Mary, or myself a PM, and we can see what happened

Thanks. I'm alright for now. Things still check out alright in the online interface, and dish service itself is still working as per usual. If something goes amiss tomorrow when I try to make my payment or something, though, I'll take you up on that offer. :) Right now there's no point in wasting anyone's time, though.

Got another phone call today that my voice mail got more of. Sounds like was just a reminder. Just a friendly suggestion for Dish Network, though: Some people may take daily phone calls "reminding" them to make a payment that's not overdue that include a "reminder" that this required by the contract "you" (with a voice that strong emphasizes the "you") agreed to and threatening to cut off your service in two days and charge a restart and/or early termination fee thereafter, the wrong way. It sounds a lot like a collection call, but I never missed a payment. I paid today on the due date. Sure, I waited till the last minute, but that's my right under the agreement "you" agreed to, Dish Network. ;)

Sorry about any inconvenience

If you want me to take a look into it (those calls leave notes on the account), send me a PM

Thanks. Sent you a PM. The calls themselves weren't that big of a deal, but if they leave negative notations on the account, it's worth getting looked into. I paid the bill at the last minute, but on-time. Would hate to have issues later qualifying for promotional offers or equipment upgrades over a mistake on Dish's part. Gave some more details via PM.

I would bet if the OP used Autopay, they wouldn't get the reminds..... I love having autopay.

I can see why people like auto-pay. Personally, I prefer having the flexibility to pay when I want. That flexibility gives me the option to say, pay really early in a month where I have money at that time but might be short later (to make sure it gets paid), or to wait until the last minute in a month when I am waiting for some money to come in and need what I have for other things.

I can also see why people like paperless billing. Personally, I like having a paper trail, and the ability to handle things without the Internet and send in a paper check in the event my Internet connection is acting funky or I'm going without Internet for a while. I actually didn't have Internet when I signed up for Dish (Was between providers).

Having said that, though, I could see horsetrading this stuff for free HD or something down the line. I could deal with auto-pay and paperless billing and stuff if I got something of value back. However, right now, there's no such incentive, so I'm going with what I prefer. :)
