Is Dish PQ with both HD and SD noticibly better then Directv? Opinions Please.

I don't know about the pq Dish vs. Direct, but Dish has more HD. If you want the most HD Dish is the way to go. I have seen Direct, but never had it. I think you would have to split hairs to realy notice a difference. Let the flaming begin. You opened up a can of worms. LOL.

YES (DISH) and I have both! Better on big screen, better on all three LCDs and even on this HD computer monitor! Told Wife last night after watching NBATV in HD on DISH and it was listed in the guide as HD on DirecTV, but not, don't know why I still have D* with only a promise things are going to change someday when they have two more satellites up. Lot of supporters out there willing to wait for D* to catch-up with DISH, but tomorrow may never come! Enjoy today! If you want better OTA SD or HD or more HD DISH is the leader. Guess I thought things were going to change must faster @ D* than they have and I have a sizable investment in DirecTV Tivo DVRs. I thought I had the best having both, but really DISH is just plain better! Maybe someday that will change but as of today DISH is far superior.

And also 622 is MPEG4 HD DVR, while HDTIVO DVR is MPEG2 only and D* doesn't have at the moment MPEG4 HD DVR. So you can't record local satellite HD feeds from D* now.

I have issues with Fox in SD. It is just appearing real crappy. I've heard others with this issue as well. But that is the only one that I notice a poor PQ.

The HD Tivo is painfully slow. Using the EPG is a trial in patience.

Well I know several folks who went from D to E* and they liked the Dish alot better. The PQ was better and they also liked the interface alot better than what D had.

Hands down Dish has better picture quality than Directv. Even back in 2003 when I had both sat services , I still thought Dish looked better than Directv. I hope for their sakes that Rupert does the right thing and improves the picture quality in the near future or all the hd locals in the world won't make enough of a difference to most of the Directv subs.

Dish has better pq on both hd and sd channels and far as the interface with the 622 vs the hd tivo; Dish still wins . Granted the few software bugs remain and need to be fixed but I still say the 622 is much faster and a better easier interface than Tivo's.

I have both, Dish HD blows D* HD away hands down and the new Mpeg4 locals from my 622 look much better than the HD distants I have with D*. SD looks about the same to me on both providers with some channels have the edge on each provider.

I used to have Directv and switched to E* much better PQ, almost no rain fade. And the 622 is awesome, fast and three tuners. Best switch I ever made.
