Playboy HD- When will this happen?

Is there any interest in the Playboy HD channel? I used to get this with the VOOM service and wondered if there is any interest in this a la carte channel on a monthly subscription. I recall it was part of the regular package on Voom. I'd subscribe to the Playboy channel again if it were in HD.

You did have to pay extra for Playboy HOT HD on Voom, but it wasn't very expensive, only about $10.00 per month or so if I recall. I think a 3-hour block on Direct was more expensive than the whole month on Voom. Anyway, I would like to see this channel added and would subscribe if it were (assuming the price was reasonable.)

I'm actually very surprised that something like this isn't already available on Dish. I've got to think that they would make more money off of a full time HD Porn channel than one of the many HD PPV channels that they have (would anyone really miss one of them?). Even if they were only getting 10-15 bucks per month I would think the number that would subscribe would be large enough to offset the regular PPV revenue from one of those channels.

I just let 2 of my magazine subscriptions expire. It would be nice to have an HD channel like this that I could move that money into.

You can always get the Skinamax for a penny per month promotion. You don't get all the "action" like the other PPV channels but you do get a couple HD channels that are, let's just say "eye popping". Not bad for a penny.

Before Voom went dead, I pulled a Y/C L&Raudio analog video signal off the VOOM receiver and recorded a couple dozen DVD-R. Yes, it was a few steps above cinemax late night. The Playboy genre went from full exposed porn including money shots to instructionals on various adult toys being done by the porn star hosts and hostesses. There were the typical Playboy music and bio stories of the centerfolds of course too. The HiDef downconverted to Y/C video onto DVD-R direct is quite high quality. Some of the movies were upconverts but many were done in HiDef using HDCAM production. The weakest part was the acting and story lines on these but when a Hi def movie was on, it didn't suffer in PQ. On Playboy HD there was never any deviant sex alternatives except for some girl on girl. About 10 years ago I worked for a Penthouse producer on about 30 videos he did. he started me out on soft porn and the stuff got hard core about half way through. I quit when it got into some alternative sexual deviant crap I couldn't stomach. I suspect that Xtasy and Penthouse may have more along these lines than I ever saw on Playboy HD. I only ever did one project for Playboy and from what I saw of the finished piece my stuff was cut out anyway. That was their bit on Bikeweek in Daytona Beach. Most of my work focused on the Miss Bikeweek Budweiser contest and The Outlaws of Florida at the Boot Hill Saloon. The Playboy video crew got tossed out and I was allowed to shoot it so I think Playboy didn't use it because of how they got treated at that Bar. PS- my wife was very happy when I gave up that end of the business.

Recently, New Frontier Media launched PenthouseTV. They have a HD feed now available. Dish and New Frontier Media have a strong relationship together. We might see the HD feed in the near future.
