Playboy TV "dirty" little pricing secret

"TXTSY" (as it is listed on the Guide) is a rip off.
.

This version of the DVD that was missing all of the "A" and ATM scenes.

I wonder if that is due to the fact some localities don't outright ban adult material, but ban certain parts/acts such as those you mentioned.

I don't know but if anyone can give some insight into state, local and Federal laws that pertain to this issue I would appreciate it. The DVD's that I rent are from an adjacent town. These kind of scenes are not edited out. I seem to remember that there used to be Federal Laws that pertained to the "airing" of pornographic material but I don't know how that relates to Satellite or Cable.

Well, I don't have any hard and fast (no pun intended) examples as I seached google and found alot of stuff that is more legalease then anything, but generally there are towns that ban all adult material outright within the city limits (not that you can't have them, but business of that nature cannot operate within the city). Then there are areas that ban what has been termed "unnatural sexual acts" only, which has been seen as a way to ban gay relations or as a way to discriminate against gay people.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone arrested for having A-intercourse with their wife (who the heck was watching to see they are breaking the law), but selling material that includes "A" scenes etc I have seen the business be fined and the material confiscated to be uh "destroyed" I'm sure. :)

I guess I would ask since you rent from an adjacent town, why do you do so? Cause you can't find the stuff in your town? I think the laws on this are mostly state and local, I don't know of too many federal laws on the matter, but maybe someone else here does.

So it's ----

$14.99 by itself
$10 when paired with HBO/Cinemax/ or Starz
$7 when added to all 4 movie channels

How much is it to add playboy to 3 movie channels?

And is there a discount with Playboy & Showtime?

Did anyone do that?

well, from what I gather ( I have not subbed to it so I can't check my bill)

With AEP or Plat, it's $7,

With any movie pack other than showtime, the total for both is $20 (so technically with HBO, it's $5.01 a month and with Max or Starz it's $8.01) Showtime does not qualify for any of the discounts.

I don't think they have a 3 movie pack discount with playboy

My girlfriends were all "dirty" like that. Then I got married with children. Now I'm lucky if I can catch "soft" porn action on Cinemax.

At least you get Cinemax. I get a kleenix and a National Geographic magazine. :hungry:

Aye laddie, you've gone over the line, now!

Gotta learn the passwords and get paperless billing. Hide the adult channels, unlock them when you want to watch them.

Sigh, you're right though...... My wife used to borrow my VCR in college and porn tapes to watch with her 5 roommates and drink. Now, she gives me grief.

Biggest problem between men and woman.... Two people get married, the women gets upset that the man never changes from who he was in College, while the man complains that she DID......

This if some funny stuff. I don't think National Geographic is the same as it used to be in the 50's either. Of course cultures evolve and there is less to photograph at least in the natural state of things.

It seems that the responses in this thread relating to husband and wife is probably typical of the US in general. Men are repressed and censured in the relationship. Is the change automatic after marriage or is it a gradual thing? For me it was an ongoing challenge to keep things from being boring. Efforts met with resistance all of the way.

I think it's just that other things get in the way..... The "kids" have to be protected, they have to give off a certain chaste appearance to the neighbors, and there is also a tendency to take the guy for granted as she gets to set the "rules of engagement" to steal a military term. (a funny TShirt I saw last summer...... "I have the p***y, I make the rules!" Wiser words were never uttered). We need sex, they like it, but can shut it off when they aren't in the mood. These channels tend to fufill a fantasy life where we get to call the shots and see things that we would like to see . It also helps deal with the imbalance that occurs when a guy who would like to get busy every other day winds up with someone who drifts into a once or twice a month whether you need it or not pattern..

It probably doesn't help that we see our waists expand, our hairlines recede, wrinkles, bags under the eyes, or grey hairs show up and/or we can never get any opportunities together other than the odd weekend away ($500+) or night out (which comes with a $60 babysitter price tag, a $100 dinner, $50 for entertainment, $50 for drinks, sheesh.... no wonder we vedge at home so often.....).

There are exceptions:

When my wife and I first married she was working at a convenience store. She brought me boxes of unsold porn mags every month (covers ripped off). I finally had to tell her to stop, I was getting burned out. After almost 30 years (we married at 18) we still set aside one weekend night a month and watch a XXX flick together. She has always been very comfortable with who she is and with her sexuality, for which I am very grateful. She doesn't care what I read or watch, her attitude has always been "as long as she gets the benefit, why should she care?" I'm blessed and I know it, I'll never take her for granted.

So, is the $7 pricepoint for Playboy Channel only available to those who subscribe to the new HD packages?

(SIGH) I would normally tell you to open your eyes and actually read the thread, but I'm making a concerted effort to be nicer, so...

It has nothing to do with HD. Playboy is now considered a regular premium channel. (Probably because HBO and Playboy are the same price now.) Therefore, the regular premium pricing discounts apply. Depending on what you subscribe to now, your price for adding Playboy to any other premium package could be as high as $11 and as low as $5.01.

Since they are doing nothing to promote this, the CSRs don't seem to know about it. (Like they know about anything  ) Your best bet is to just add it without arguing about the price...the discount should be applied automatically. It's not like these CSRs have 1960's cash registers and take orders on paper. Actually just add it online (I did), and it should take care of itself.

Theoretical pricing examples.
-You have just Showtime at $11.99 a month. Two premium channels are $22.99, so your increase is $11.

-You have just HBO at $14.99 a month, and subscribe to at least AT120. The "Movie Value Pak" is $20. Your increase is $5.01

-You have all four premium packages- whether separately, in the Everything Pak, DishHD Platnum, ect. A fifth premium is $7.

-There are several other combinations that would result in an $8 or $8.01 increase.

The only thing that hasn't been tried and confirmed (and I doubt it would work) is whether you could replace Cinemax (or another premium) with Playboy in the Everything Pak or HD Platnum. Since there are other discounts involved in these packages (especially free DVR fees), I would imagine you must keep it as a package. They would have to too many different combos of "Everything Pak"s in the system. On my bill, it says "America's Everything Pak with Playboy & Locals."

Now now, it sounds like BOTH of you need to get Playboy and think of something else to blow off all that negative energy.
