I have a PS3 and two HR23's (setup and working for MRV) and I was wondering if there are any plans to allow other devices instead of DirecTV's PC app to watch recordings remotely.

With my PS3 I can browse the recordings, just not play them.

I asked this question before and the consensus it that it probably won't happen.

It would be nice but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Doubtful unless DirecTV forms a partnership with Sony specifically on this opportunity.

Should be no copy protection issues since it is all over local lan only.

Security would be the problem. Directv doesnt want to pass anything unencrypted over the wire. Making this work would require a trusted decryption partner software module on the ps3 and xbox360 that could exchange keys and decrypt the stream.

I'm thinking that directv wont allow that without some sort of hardware dongle/access card sort of component on the game console.

Besides, directv will just tell you to lease a couple of h2x's and use those to do your streaming.
