That's the plan unless they're in a contract dispute. So say Dish was in a dispute with HBO still, then HBO apps would not be available
But but... If it were basically an implementation of Android TV, how would the app disappear from Hoppers without also disappearing on all Android TV devices?

The app would be there but you couldn't log into it if you were using your DISH credential. It would probably offer you a way to sign in a different way. No different then if you were using a Roku or FireTV...
 
I expect the new device will still require an Internet connection to stream the programming.
again i fine with Dish hopper having the internet connect or hell if usb device that is gona i give the hopper 3 more streaming app options, it means I can disconnect my "smart" tv from the wifi and never have to deal with the updates anymore breaking things. it also would be super convient to have all that done threw hopper 3, less it usb addon that require me to change inputs which would make no sense seeing it being connect to hopper 3 yes?

In the meantime.... I ran across this article.It suggests that if you supply Roku the serial number of the device they will roll back the update.
