I"m located in Toronto, Canada and I'm doing some testing with a 39" dish c/w two linear LNB's each Lo 10750 on AMC-4 & Galaxy 19. The center LNB is for AMC-4 and to the left of center I have the one for Galaxy 19, I've locked AMC-4 with an average of 78% quality on both polarities H & V on Galaxy 19 I'm getting good quality about 68 to 72% but only on the vertical transponder, for whatever reason I do not get quality on the horizontal transponders.
The receiver that I'm using is a coolsat 5000, I've tried every LNB set-up but no luck, skewing same thing, changed the LNB'S and still no quality.
All advice and help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance to all

How are you switching between the two LNBF?

Could you list the Frequency, Symbol Rate and Polarity of the "Low Quality" Transponders with their average quality?

It seems like you've got a good aim with your dish...

A nitpick is that AMC2/4 @ 101W is quite strong compared to Galaxy 19 @ 97W
So I'd have the LNBF on the center of the arm aimed at 97W with 101W LNBF offset.
But DON"T do anything about that now! One problem at a time!

Meinename thanks for thr reply, in regards to the switching between lnbf's I'm using 1x4 diseqc switch, as for lowest quality transponder on galaxy 19 it is 12010 vertical sr 3000 fec 2/3 on this one quality was about 52% if I recall it was my lowest .

Thanks again

Well there is nothing at 12010 V 3000 or 12010 V 30000

There is some at 12020 V 22000

I'm wondering if your transponder list is out of date...
Does it call the satellite "97W Telestar 5"?

You might need to do a Blind Scan to just get everything in as a "quick and dirty" course of action

Better yet punch these transponders in and fill out the chart with your signal Quality
Signal Readings
11779 V 3979: Signal Quality:
11789 V 28125: Signal Quality:
11836 V 20765: Signal Quality:
11867 V 22000: Signal Quality:
11874 H 22000: Signal Quality:
11898 V 22000: Signal Quality:
11929 V 22000: Signal Quality:

11966 H 22000: Signal Quality:
11991 V 22000: Signal Quality:
11999 H 20000: Signal Quality:

12053 V 22000: Signal Quality:

12115 V 22425: Signal Quality:
12122 H 20000: Signal Quality:
12146 V 22000: Signal Quality:
12152 H 20000: Signal Quality:
12177 V 23000: Signal Quality:

I'm getting 72% quality or better on all transponders with my Direcway dish

Finally I'm getting quality on all transponders including horizontals, what I did was to put 97 at center of dish and 101 on right side of 97 and bingo I scanned and got 207 channels.
Only on 12177 V 23000 the qualityis 65% the channels (10) of them all come in but no picture or audio, this is the only TP that is giving me fits, so my question is what can I do to correct this?

Glad to hear that you solved the bulk of your problem. :):up

I don't know what problem you might have there...
12177 V 23000 is a troublemaker for some places.

As for me I'm getting it at 71%-72% Quality so it's definitely the weakest of the bunch.

Assuming your post is plumb, Take your time with your east-west positioning of your dish.
You'll need to have your Coolsat and a TV out in your own line-of-sight while you mess with the dish.

First of all I want to thank meinename for all the help and sugestions, but as of today I still cannot get audio/picture on that 12177 even though I'm getting 63% quality but I feel i'm getting close, also today something happen that I found very odd, I took the coolsat and a small TV that I use only for testing to about 10 feet away from the dish and at one point I got audio and then as I kept tweaking it I lost it.
Then I decided to bring out my platinum 2000 and see if that would help, when I connected the receiver all the quality that I was getting on the coolsat practicly dissapeared if I was getting 70% on the coolsat on the viewsat it only registered 10% this on all TP's, I was amazed, I also own a Teleman 1600 meter and the readings on the meter confirmed exactly to the viewsat, I had tried the meter before i brought out the viewsat and the readings were low so I thought there was something wrong with the meter. Still in doubt I took the meter to my office where I have Bell service connected the meter to it and the readings were around 75 to 85 in most of TP's that I tested.
So I'm wondering what the heck is going on here, is it possible for such a gap in quality readings between receivers.
With the coolsat I get over 200 channels I connect the viewsat and I get 60 it's like a bad joke.
Anyways I will just keep going at it and see what happens, but I tell you this is a strange one.
Any suggestions anyone!
Thanks.
