Now that I have my 6 foot C Band dish working. Its time for me to watch TV.

Specifically I am interested in watching TVJapan / Euro News / and BBC.

On "The List" some of these channels are in RED and others are not however they are listed as PowerVu Plus N.

Am I wrong to think that if they are in The List they are unencrypted?

I was also under the impression that unencrypted PowerVu Plus N broadcasts should be viewable on an FTA receiver like the Pansat 9200.

If I am in fantasy land then let me know.

BBC and TVJapan are now encrypted, they encrypted within the last six months, I am not sure about EuroNews.

Unencrypted PowerVu Plus N broadcasts are viewable with FTA equipment.

I try to keep the Ku band up to date on TheList, but it is hard to keep the C-Band data up to date with my 1.2 Meter dish :(
EDIT: I was able to scan that transponder in so that transponder is now updated.

Thank you for your response.

It certainly makes me feel better.

I find it odd that stations would encrypt when the whole idea of ratings is based on viewership, as in the more people who watch, the more you can charge to air commercials.

Once again logic in the US defies common sense.

Btw, thank you for your time and effort on making the list possible. It is a great resource.

Well for some reason I cant get Euro News (3780 V 3200) or IA TV (3777 H 1860).

Guess my 6 footer isn't going to do it.

Other transponders work nicely.

IATV takes forever to log in on the receiver with my 6 footer but its nice and strong at 75 quality. Try and tweak it just a little bit. Its there and you're only 45 minutes away ;)

I realized something last night after your last post. The V and H are reversed.

Who ever installed this LNBF years ago did not do it correctly. It still have not found Euronews, however I took the old LNBF off and put on a new band stacked LNBF.

My goal today is to find the correct focal depth and get some signal strength, right now I am worse off then I was at 7 PM last night.

The only thing I have going for me is day light,.

Wish me luck.

Use this calculator to speed up the process on finding focal depth/length:
SatLex Digital :: Technology :: Calculators :: F/D Ratio

Finally found IA on 121.

Still cant find Euro News.
Good job on finding IA
What Quality are you getting?

I'm pretty sure that the symbol rate is 29270 for Euronews.
I won't be able to check 'til Thursday.
All I'm sure of right now is that it's a 5-digit symbol rate.

I've found Mike's monthly scans a reliable source when checking frequency and symbol rates.

did the symbol rate change recently? I thought that s/r was higher than 3200

It was. They changed a few months back. They added a channel or two to the transponder and I had to re-scan it. I could tell the S/R was lower just by watching when it came back in.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. AI is coming in at 65 - 70 Q, yet no sign of Euro News.

Can someone confirm the Freq and the polarity and that it is indeed on the 121 west sat.

I was able to make my run to the BUD a day early.

I'm using 3780 V 22500 avg 64Q on the DVR-1100c
I could use a SR of 29760 and still pick up Euronews and Setanta with a Q of 64 but they would take a second or more to lock.
Texas would take over 10 seconds to lock with SR 29760

So try 3780 V 22500 and you should get Euronews.

Other average transponder Quality readings today:
Code:
85Q - TVW
88Q - Feed
64Q - AJE
82Q - IA
64Q - Euronews
64Q - Studio121
78Q - STO SD
84Q - Sportsman
Setup
Geosatpro DVR-1100c -> 60' diplexed RG-6Q - > Cheita HD DiSEqC ->
50'RG-6Q -> BSC-621 on a 8.5 foot Solid Metal BUD with a recentered buttonhook arm
